Dignity Health Sacramento Market Hospitals Earn An ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog focused on patient safety
SACRAMENTO (November 15, 2024) – The Leapfrog Group, a national patient ratings program, announced today that all five Dignity Health Sacramento Market hospitals have earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
“This achievement is significant, not just for our individual hospitals, but for the entire Sacramento community, who can be confident in the quality of care we provide," said Dr. Tina Johnson, President of the Dignity Health Sacramento Market. "This recognition is a direct reflection of the commitment, hard work, and expertise of our dedicated employees, physicians and leadership. It is their relentless focus on patient safety and quality care that has made this possible, and we are deeply grateful for their contributions.”
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Dignity Health’s Sacramento Market hospitals, including Woodland Memorial Hospital, Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, Mercy General Hospital, Mercy San Juan Medical Center and Mercy Hospital of Folsom ,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to the Dignity Health team, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
