Dr. Oz Visits Mercy General Hospital

Dr. Mehmet Oz, cardiothoracic surgeon, author and television personality, made a surprise visit to Mercy General Hospital on Sunday, May 17 as part of a trip to the Sacramento region.

Mercy General President Edmundo Castañeda, Michael Chang, MD; medical director of cardiovascular services and Richard Kaplon, MD, cardiac surgeon, accompanied Dr. Oz as he took a tour of the Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Institute. Dr. Oz visited with patients and took selfies with employees, many of them fans of his television show. Dr. Oz was in Roseville earlier in the day to speak at a health and wellness event. A KCRA 3 camera crew followed Dr. Oz during his visit to Mercy General.
