Dignity Health Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Earns Prestigious 5-Star Safety Rating from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (August 5, 2024) –  Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital (SNMH) has been awarded a 5-star rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in their latest release of overall hospital quality star ratings. This top score places SNMH among the elite group of only 36 hospitals in California to receive this distinction.

The CMS star ratings, updated annually, evaluate hospitals nationwide on a scale of one to five stars. The ratings are based on five quality categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care.

"We're proud of this recognition, but more importantly, we're grateful for the trust our patients place in us every day," said Dr. Scott Neeley, President and CEO of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. "This rating is a reflection of our team's unwavering focus on patient care and safety.

From healthcare providers to our devoted facilities and food service teams, every member of our hospital community contributes to the exceptional care we provide.”

For patients, this rating translates to lower risks of adverse events, higher survival rates for common conditions, and an overall better care experience. This recognition further solidifies SNMH's reputation for excellence, coming on the heels of its recent designation as a Top Rural Hospital by The Leapfrog Group.

Key initiatives contributing to these achievements include the hospital's comprehensive safety protocols, patient engagement programs, and ongoing staff training and development.
