Dignity Health Woodland Memorial Hospital Recognized for 100 Years of Membership in the American Hospital Association
Woodland, January 9, 2025 – The American Hospital Association (AHA) today honored Dignity Health Woodland Memorial Hospital for 100 years of membership and participation in the organization, joining only 50 other hospitals in 2024 to receive this recognition. The AHA represents all types of hospitals, health care networks and their patients and communities to advance the health of all.
Sean Barry, Regional Executive for AHA Region 9, presented the award to Gena Bravo, President & CEO of Woodland Memorial Hospital, members of her leadership team and staff highlighting the hospital’s leadership during COVID-19. Leaders engaged in conversation regarding upcoming legislation, patient discharge issues and how to navigate changes in the upcoming administration.
“The American Hospital Association is proud to recognize Woodland Memorial Hospital for 100 years of membership,” said Barry. “Their team of caregivers and other professionals play a vital role in the health of the community and its economy.”
AHA Region 9 includes member hospitals and health systems in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington State. Regional Policy Board (RPB) 9 is the AHA governance body for the six states. Wright Lassiter, CEO of CommonSpirit Health, of which Woodland Memorial Hospital is part of, is a former chair of the AHA Board of Trustees.
“We appreciate this recognition from the American Hospital Association and are proud to stand alongside them in all they do to advocate for hospitals, health systems, patients and our communities," said Gena Bravo, President & CEO of Woodland Memorial Hospital. “A hundred years is a long time, and for me, it just speaks to the legacy of care we have provided to the community and Yolo County.”
Together, Woodland Memorial Hospital and AHA have championed meaningful legislation and change for the healthcare industry and the communities they serve. In 2024, membership advocacy efforts focused on:
- Ensuring access to care, addressing government underfunding and providing financial sustainability
- Strengthening the health care workforce
- Advancing quality, equity and innovation
- Enacting regulatory and administrative relief
Over the years, through AHA’s leadership, Woodland Memorial Hospital has committed to transparency through the 340B program which shares publicly how 340B savings are used to benefit the community by providing more comprehensive services. Creating opportunities for hospitals to commit to these programs help establish trust and respect in their communities, and is an example of how AHA helps members provide much needed care for patients.
