BLS - Basic Life Support

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Basic Life Support (BLS) class is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or non-certified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the program the learner will be able to:

  • Identify importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival
  • Identify signs of someone needing CPR
  • Demonstrate high-quality CPR skills acquisition for adults, children and infants
  • Identify importance of early use of an AED
  • Identify techniques for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults, children and infants
  • Recognize importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival
