Pharmacy Practice Residency Program

Dear Prospective Residents,

Thank you for your interest in the Dignity Health Sacramento (Mercy General/Mercy San Juan) PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program!

We are very excited for the upcoming application season and look forward to getting to know you. Our program offers a multi-site residency training program and starting in 2025, will offer four residents each cycle.

The Dignity Health - Sacramento PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program and its facilities, Mercy General Hospital and Mercy San Juan Medical Center, are a part of CommonSpirit Health™.  Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives combined to form CommonSpirit Health in 2019.  CommonSpirit Health™ is a non-profit health system with hospitals and clinics in 21 states and cares for diverse populations with the intent of being a leader in advancing care for all.  The CommonSpirit Health™ mission is to make the healing presence of God known in our world by improving the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable, while we advance social Justice for all.  CommonSpirit Health envisions a healthier future for all – inspired by faith, driven by innovation, and powered by humanity.  CommonSpirit Health values include compassion, inclusion, integrity, excellence and collaboration.

Our Departments of Pharmacy have preceptors who have completed their own residency training, are board-certified, and/or have multiple years of experience in their individual areas of expertise. We are proud to provide our residents a diverse learning experience in both the acute and ambulatory care setting. Both facilities live within diverse communities, and it is our goal to recruit a residency class that is reflective of the populations we serve. Our teams prioritize and embrace the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our residency program. Students and residents who identify as underrepresented minorities (URM) or those with diverse individual perspectives and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.

We participate in PhorCAS (WebAdmit) and our interviews are arranged by invitation. Please review the application section of our residency page for deadlines and requirements. Good luck, and we look forward to getting to know you during this process!
