Having a baby is a life-changing event. Whether it’s your first or you’re adding to your family, the team at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital is here to help bring your little one into the world.

For mothers who choose to give birth here, you’ll feel right at home in the Family Birth Center (FBC) unit. Our goal is to provide family-centered care in surroundings that maintain privacy and are homelike, attractive, comfortable, and safe.

Because women have diverse needs, desires and expectations when it comes to their birthing experience, a range of pain-management choices are available including patient-controlled epidural infusion and intrathecal procedure. As a community hospital, we are able to offer more flexible options to meet your needs. You can discuss with your physician what will work best for you.

The rooms have been designed and lit to reflect the natural beauty and serenity of the foothills with a variety of comfortable amenities, including:

Newborn Nursery and Special Care

Our newborn nursery features the latest security technology and state-of-the-art equipment. All Family Birth Center nurses are specially trained in emergency care of newborns, including national certification in neonatal resuscitation and advanced training in fetal monitoring and neonatal stabilization. We partner with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) from Dignity Health’s Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Sacramento to provide additional support when early term or difficult births are anticipated.
