MRI-Compatible Pacemakers and Defibrillators
Dignity Health Heart and Vascular Institute of Greater Sacramento is one of the region's first programs to offer patients magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-conditional cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators. These devices allow patients that may require these therapies to undergo the MRI procedure safely when needed.
MRI's use a powerful magnetic field to produce detailed images of internal body organs. This magnetic field can disrupt the pacemaker or defibrillator's setting or cause the wires to overheat. With these MRI-compatible devices, the safety of a MRI scan is improved.
At Dignity Health Heart and Vascular Institute of Greater Sacramento, our cardiologists, heart doctors, and other heart specialists are trained in this latest technology for selecting the best treatment options for their patients.
If you’re a candidate for an MRI-Compatible Pacemaker or Defibrillator, talk to your primary care physician about a referral to one of our cardiovascular specialists.
