What to Expect
Before you go to a cardiologist for the first time there are things you can do in advance that will help you make the most of the appointment.
- Write down a personal health history and a health history of your family
- Gather any recent test results as well as a list of medications you are taking
- Write down notes about any symptoms you have been experiencing or anything that seems out of the norm for you
- Make a list of questions you want to ask your doctor
To learn more about your condition, your cardiologist may refer you for any of a number of non-invasive diagnostic tests, possibly including:
- Stress (or treadmill) test
- Nuclear stress test
- Echocardiogram
- Computed tomography (CT) scan
- Cardiac magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) scan
