Glendale Memorial's Adult Behavioral Unit (ages 18-65) offers comprehensive multimodal therapies and individual treatment planning tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient. Patients are under close medical supervision, which includes careful monitoring of medications and behavior to protect the patient from self-harm or harm of others.
To be admitted to the unit, patients must meet the following criteria:
Not all patients are accepted into Glendale Memorial's Adult Behavioral Health Unit. Exclusion criteria include: substance abuse disorders; dementia; acute medical or surgical illnesses or terminal illness without a treatable psychiatric disorder; unable to participate due to physical limitations; and anyone convicted of a violent crime.
Glendale Memorial is Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) designated by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Services. Health care facilities that meet LPS criteria and process requirements are authorized to evaluate and treat patients involuntarily detained.
