Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Our highly trained nurses, physicians and HBO therapists are ready to meet your safety and comfort needs with Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO). HBO provides patients with 100 percent oxygen at increased atmospheric pressures, which helps the body fight infection and heal more efficiently.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is helpful for patients who experience diabetic ulcers below the waist, carbon monoxide poisoning, bone infections (osteomyelitis) and other serious infections, crush injuries or injuries that affect circulation.
How does Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy work?
While resting in a chamber set at greater-than-normal atmospheric pressure, you are exposed to pure oxygen. The chamber maintains oxygen delivery and improves your blood flow. HBO allows your body to carry up to 20 times the normal amount of healing oxygen to the body’s tissues.
Can you benefit from Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Typically up to 18 percent of wound care patients may require HBO treatments. A member of our wound care physician team will evaluate you at the center to see if HBO is right for you.
