Dignity Health – Northridge Hospital named one of Healthgrades 2018 America’s 50 Best Hospitals
Today, Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital announced that it has received the Healthgrades 2018 America's 50 Best Hospitals Award™.
The distinction makes Northridge Hospital one of the top 1% of more than 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for its consistent, year-over-year superior clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
“Patients are first and foremost at the heart of everything we do,” says Julie Sprengel, Interim President, Northridge Hospital, and President, Dignity Health Southern California. “This award is a testament to our focus and commitment on safety, quality and patient experience. I am incredibly proud and commend our physicians and staff on this incredible recognition.”
From 2014 through 2016, patients treated in hospitals achieving Healthgrades America's 50 Best Hospitals Award™ had, on average, a 26.2% lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive this award, as measured across 19 rated conditions and procedures where mortality is the outcome.* During this same period, if all other hospitals, as a group, had performed at the level of America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award™ recipients across these 19 procedures and conditions, 179,464 lives could potentially have been saved.*
The 50 recipients of the America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award™ are distinguished for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care. During the 2018 study period (2014-2016), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicare population across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures —as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).
“As consumers take an active role in managing their health, they can have confidence that hospitals that have achieved the America’s 50 Best Hospital Award™ stand above the rest,” said Brad Bowman, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “We commend the recipients of the America’s 50 Best Hospital Award™ for delivering exceptional quality care to their patients.”
In addition to many nationally recognized clinical achievements, Northridge Hospital was also named One of Healthgrades America's 100 Best Hospitals’ Award™ for 4 Years in a Row (2015 – 2018); One of Healthgrades America's 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Care™ in 2018; and is a Recipient of Healthgrades Distinguished Hospital Award – Clinical Excellence for 7 Years in a Row (2012 – 2018).
