ReWalk Robotics
The Center for Rehabilitation Medicine at Dignity Health-Northridge Hospital is the only facility in the Valley to offer the ReWalk System™ that helps patients with a Spinal Cord Injury to walk again.
ReWalk is a wearable robotic exoskeleton that provides powered hip and knee motion to enable individuals with a Spinal Cord Injury to stand upright and walk. The system provides user-initiated mobility through the integration of a wearable brace support, a computer-based control system and motion sensors. It allows independent, controlled walking while mimicking the natural gait patterns of the legs.
ReWalk = More Than Walking
The ReWalk technology offers more than walking — users can experience potential physiological benefits as a result of being able to walk. They include:
- Reduction of some medications for certain ailments
- Improved bowel and bladder function
- Increase of lean muscle mass
- Decreased muscle spasticity
- Decrease in body fat
- Decreased pain and better pain management
ReWalk is the only exoskeleton system cleared by the FDA for both personal use as well as use in a rehabilitation setting in the United States.
