St Mary Medical Center Recognized as Exemplary Bariatrics Surgery Center of Excellence
MBSAQIP accreditation is important because it provides an objective and measurable means in which the Center of Excellence can demonstrate that it offers high-quality care in a multidisciplinary format. Maintenance of accreditation requires consistent attention to the details of the program on an ongoing basis with periodic review of outcomes, pathways, and protocols to ensure that the center is providing safe and competent metabolic and bariatric surgical care.
The MBSAQIP representative referred to the program as “exemplary” after touring the key areas of St. Mary Medical Center that participate in the bariatric services, including telemetry, surgery, radiology, and the GI lab, as well as the ICU and emergency department. St. Mary doctors and staff provide support to the patients every step of the way. From introductory education sessions and physician consultation, to nutrition counseling, weight loss surgery and post-surgery support.
Dignity Health - St. Mary Medical Center surgical weight loss services include gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, Fobi-Pouch, Adjustable Lap-Band®, as well as non-surgical options, including gastric balloon. The community can learn more about our specialty services the second Saturday of each month during an informational seminar led by the bariatric physicians. To register to attend a free community seminar, call (562) 491-7995.
