Safety and Valuables
St. Mary Medical Center Security Department ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees.
We staff uniformed officers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Security can be reached by dialing extension 3932 or “0.” Emergency telephones are on every level of the parking garage, and every elevator has a telephone that rings directly to the security dispatcher.
Patients are encouraged to leave all valuables and personal property at home. The hospital does have a patient property storage room and safes to secure valuables during your admission, and we do suggest that patients lock up these items with security for safekeeping. Speak with your nurse about storing them in the hospital safe.
Other safety tips while you are a patient or visiting on campus:
- Do not leave gifts or packages visible inside your vehicle.
- Do not leave items such as cell phones, headsets or any valuables visible in your room while you are sleeping or away from the floor.
Patients and visitors are encouraged to report suspicious persons by dialing extension 11.
Valuables
If you are admitted through the Emergency Department, one of the security officers will secure all your valuables in the safe and provide you with a claim ticket. Upon discharge you may present your claim ticket to retrieve your belongings. St. Mary Medical Center is not responsible for any valuables left in your room.
