The skilled surgeons at St. Mary's Surgical Weight Loss center are committed to quality, with a focus on the safety, comfort and long-term wellness of our patients
We place an emphasis on education to help you determine if weight loss surgery is your best option and, if so, which procedure is most appropriate.
St. Mary Medical Center offers a number of options that you and your surgeon will discuss in order to determine what is best for you. As a premier center, we have the expertise to offer Gastric Bypass, Gastric Sleeve, the Fobi-Pouch and the Adjustable Banding procedures.
Gastric Bypass
A Gastric Bypass, also known as Roux-en-Y, is considered the gold standard in bariatric surgery and is the most widely used weight loss surgery procedure for patients seeking significant results.
Gastric Sleeve
This more restrictive form of surgical weight loss involves the removal of approximately 85% of stomach. While the stomach is drastically reduced in size, its function is preserved and continues to function normally. There are fewer restrictions on what you can and can't eat, but the quantity will be significantly reduced.
The Fobi-Pouch
The Fobi-Pouch has been performed successfully in one form or another for many years. Also called the Transected Vertical Gastric Bypass with a Silastic Ring Band, or gastrostomy with a gastrostomy site marker, the increasingly popular procedure is 95% effective, meaning that most people who undergo the Fobi-Pouch procedure lose more than 40% of their excess weight and maintain that weight loss for more than five years.
The Adjustable Gastric Banding System
Ofter referred to as the Lap-Band, this is a minimally invasive procedure where an adjustable silicone band is inserted around the upper part of the stomach, creating a new, smaller upper stomach and leaving the larger part of the stomach below. With the banding system, you feel fuller sooner and eat less at each meal.
