Valley Fever Rehab
St. Joseph's Valley Fever Center is a center of excellence in Arizona.
Valley fever (c)occidioidomycosis is an infectious disease caused by a fungus that grows in the soils of some parts of the world. It is abundant in the Sonoran desert surrounding Phoenix, Casa Grande, Tucson and other parts of Arizona. The symptoms of Valley Fever include pneumonia, cough, chest pain, difficulty breathing, fever, night sweats and weight loss.
Depending on the extent of the illness, rehab for Valley Fever may include therapeutic exercises for lung function in Outpatient Rehab.
Rehab For Lung Transplants
Patients who have undergone a lung transplant require lifelong post-operative care, and rehabilitation is essential to the recovery process.
Lung transplant rehab begins in the hospital shortly after surgery and continues on an outpatient basis for several weeks or months following the procedure. St. Joseph's physical therapists and respiratory therapists work with post-transplant patients to develop and monitor an exercise regimen that help patients regain lung function and stamina.
